This last year has been one serious rollercoaster of emotion and Lauren & Freddie’s London micro wedding was certainly no exception. An elopement style wedding in Hackney Town Hall is about as far removed from their original plans as is possible. However, after 3 previous attempts, this couple were more determined than ever to finally tie the knot, come what may!
After scaling back the celebrations to a level that Boris would permit, this ever resourceful couple pulled together a day sparkling with retro charm and 50s glamour. The Hackney Town Hall is fast becoming a firm favourite of ours to shoot and provided the perfect backdrop for Lauren in her incredible She’s Dynamite Vintage dress.
The joy, emotion and general relief at finally getting to tie the knot made this micro wedding far more than the sum of its parts and one that will live long in the memory. A real highlight of the day turned out to be the impromptu choice of wedding transportation. Finding it tricky to locate enough Ubers for the wedding party, plan b turned out to be quite the fortuitous masterstroke. With an empty London bus arriving in the nick of time the entire upper deck was happily commandeered with a scenic view to enjoy a few bottles of the good stuff!
The day ended as it began with a small gathering back at the couple’s charming London flat. With numerous glasses charged and cake dutifully cut there proceeded a round of toasts followed swiftly by generous slabs of piping hot homemade lasagne (the ideal wedding food IMHO!)
We really can’t wait for bigger weddings to return and for the industry to get back on its feet, but honestly if London micro weddings are to become more of a staple in the future then count us in! Here’s a few of our favourite moments from this incredible day…
